You know that if you're using a car on public roads, it must be insured. But what if you couldn't work for some reason and lost your income. You'd probably still need your car, but could you still pay the insurance?
It's not a worry with instalment protection (also called payment protection or IPP). If you're out of work because of an accident, illness, hospitalisation or involuntary unemployment, it covers the cost of your monthly insurance premiums for you. Phew!
Do I really need it?
Only you can decide. But bear in mind that even if you're not working, most of your monthly outgoings will still be going out. You may get sick pay from your employer and the government, but will this go far enough?
The instalment protection we offer will take care of up to £250 of your premium each month, for up to 12 months. That should help you get well soon (or help you stay mobile if you're looking for a new job).
Will I be eligible?
If you've been continuously full-time employed or self-employed for at least six months before the start date, you're a UK resident over 18, you're named on the policy and you're paying for your elephant.co.uk insurance in monthly instalments, the answer is yes.
Who provides it?
Instalment Protection Plan is provided by Pinnacle Insurance plc which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
