The help you need, when you need it

- We aim to have one of our 1,500 skilled technicians with you in 30 minutes if possible. If they can't fix it by the side of the road, our recovery service will take you, your car and up to six passengers to a destination within 10 miles of the breakdown if you've opted for our Local service, or to a garage, back home or to your original destination if you have our National Plus or European Plus cover
We're chivalrous chaps, so we give priority service to lone lady drivers.
- Home assistance. It's right outside your house and it just won't start; how annoying is that? Don't worry, our National Plus and European Plus breakdown cover includes home assistance too
- Alternative transport or emergency overnight accommodation. If you're in a rush and take a train, bus or hire car, or if you have to book into B&B or a hotel overnight, let us know. We'll refund your expenses (with certain reasonable exceptions - see our policy booklet)
- Caravan or trailer cover. If you're towing and we can't repair your car by the roadside, we'll recover your caravan or trailer too
- Lost or damaged key cover. How embarrassing: you've dropped your car keys down a drain cover. It's OK, we'll send one of our chaps round. He'll either use his trunk to get them back, or be a human with a clever way to solve the problem
How it works
We'll send you an elephant breakdown cover pack for the car you have insured with us.
If you have a breakdown, call the freephone number in the booklet. Tell the operator your policy number and scheme code (in the booklet), your car registration, make and model. And of course, where you are. We'll take your phone number, and keep you updated with the estimated time of our technician's arrival, and their name, so you know who to expect.
Brilliant. So how do I get it?
If you are an elephant.co.uk customer, just contact our customer services on 0871 882 2233 (calls to 0871 numbers are charged at 8p per minute plus network extras). Lines are open 8am-10pm weekdays, 9am-5pm Saturdays and 10am-4pm Sundays.
Even if you are not you can still benefit from our breakdown cover. So, for example, you can add your partner's car if they're insured with someone else (shame!). Click here for more details.
