Car Colours Reveal Their Driver's Occupation

elephant.co.uk studied a database of over one million customers to see whether certain professions preferred certain colours of car and the results showed that undertakers preferred deathly black, vicars drove heavenly white and doctors went for surgical silver.

Managing Director Ceri Assiratti said: "We looked at our database for a bit of fun but the results were actually quite surprising as they showed that people in some professions were far more likely to drive a certain colour of car."

If you're ever in deep debt and see a red car pulling up outside the house it may be time to lock the windows and doors as the figures showed that bailiffs are twice as likely to drive a red car as the average motorist.

Ceri said: "It's ironic really, red is seen as the colour of danger and you might say that seeing a bailiff pull up outside in a bright red car would be a warning to anyone! "

On the other hand, surgeons and doctors are 30 per cent more likely to drive cool, clinical silver cars but 50 per cent less likely to drive a red car.

"Perhaps doctors like to give a cool and calm image," said Ceri. "Red cars are quite flashy and perhaps this is why doctors tend to steer clear of them. Silver seems to give the impression of a balanced, professional type, someone who takes a calm and methodical approach to their work."

Men of the cloth definitely prefer heavenly white cars. Vicars are almost twice as likely to drive a white car than those in other jobs. Undertakers on the other hand prefer sombre black. They are 24 per cent more likely to choose a black car than the rest of us.

And Journalists? Overall the favourite is blue, but they are also far more partial to red than other drivers.

Ceri said: "Everyone knows that journalists are renowned for being stressed. Blue is a calming colour and this could be why most of them choose this. On the other hand many choose racy red as they are zipping around trying to get that story and meet their deadline."
