Affordable open-top motoring this summer

Online car insurer, elephant.co.uk has compared the cost of insuring three typical drivers in these funky convertibles. It has found that by shopping around even someone under 25 can get insured in one for less than £400. The cheapest quote was just £318 for a 24-year-old.

Despite our unpredictable climate, the UK is the biggest market in Europe for convertibles, and this year open-top versions many of the country's favourite cars will be launched, including the VW Golf, Mini and Nissan Micra. Until they are released the Streetka, Beetle and MX5 remain three of the most popular convertibles on our roads. Here is how the cost of insuring them shapes up:

Our research is good news for cost-conscious motorists, as almost any driver can afford to get themselves insured in these fun cars."
