Drivers caught by speed cameras can usually do little except hold up their hands and admit their guilt - but one motorist has been 'caught' twice, even though his car was parked each time.
Nottingham man Jeff Buck received the speeding tickets after his stationary car - left as usual outside his house in Nuthall - was seemingly snapped in the same frame as another vehicle which had triggered the camera.
After contesting the fines he has received two apologies from Nottinghamshire Police - who affirm the camera is in good working order, but say staff are receiving guidance on how they check the pictures.
Buck told the Nottingham Evening Post that he finds the situation amusing, though he is starting to tire of phoning the police to explain the mix-up.
What he says is more confusing is that the pictures show his Vauxhall Zafira parked with two wheels on the pavement, and two on the road.
"My only option is to park the car on the road as I don't have a garage or driveway," Buck said.
"It's amazing that whatever system is in place cannot tell the difference between a car that is motionless and one travelling at 37mph."
And Buck is seemingly not alone in incurring a speeding fine, despite being nowhere near his vehicle at the time.
Last March, a Liverpool teenager was snapped supposedly breaking the speed limit outside her home - despite being tucked up in bed while her car was parked safely in a lay-by.
