An undertaker in the US state of Georgia is extending an unusual offer to potential customers who say they intend to drink and drive on New Year's Eve - an all-expenses-paid funeral.
McGuire, Jennings and Miller Funeral Home in the town of Rome is making the macabre offer to anyone who signs up, confirming that they are going to drink or take drugs before driving on the biggest party night of the year. Their relatives would then be able to claim the free service should the driver die tonight in a crash.
But while the home's literal twist on the phrase "it's your funeral" may sound like a grim gimmick, it carries a serious message - intended to draw attention to the risks of drink and drug-driving.
And it seems that the business is getting its message across.
Despite laying on a generous package - including embalming, casket, vault and grave, along with a limousine and the staff and facilities for a religious service - no-one has yet taken them up on the offer, which expires at noon local time on 31 December.
In fact, according to co-owner Barry Miller, no-one has ever signed on the dotted line in any of the 10 years he has run the driver-awareness campaign.
"I use that contract as a tool to make people stop and think," he added.
