Monday started off badly for one motorist who ended up taking an early morning dip, after parking his BMW in a West Country rhyne.
The driver, from Burnham-On-Sea, lost control of his smart ride just before 7am in the village of Mark, following heavy rain overnight. He skidded across a patch of grass and into the "deep" waters of the ditch, according to Burnham-On-Sea.com.
While the unfortunate Beemer owner managed to clamber free, his car had become submerged up to the window line by the time a photographer caught the scene on film. Police and fire crews were dispatched to make sure there was no-one else trapped in the cold waters of the rhyne.
However, despite the driver's misfortune, his car's watery resting place ensured that the road remained open - and seemingly undamaged, with photos showing just a couple of skid marks traversing the grass verge.
Oddly, it seems that cars in the area may have a natural affinity with water.
Today's accident recalls a Reginald Perrin-style escape earlier this year, when a Fiesta answered the oceanic call and returned to the waters - much to the annoyance of its drivers.
On this occasion the Burnham Area Rescue Boat (BARB) was scrambled to dissuade the pair from trying to salvage the car - which they were said to have rented for a day out at the sea.
