Arsenal ace Nicklas Bendtner walked away from a spectacular crash with just bruises after his car mysteriously veered off the A1 and ended up in a field.
The 21-year-old Danish striker was on his way to training ahead of Arsenal's match against Greek side Olympiakos, when his Aston Martin sports car left the road, crashing through a fence and hitting a tree before coming to rest.
And while Bendtner suffered no more than bruising to his shoulder and a grazed knee, his ride was not so lucky: the exotic motor lost a front wheel and had its driver's side and roof caved in.
A witness told The Sun: "The car wasn't going especially fast, but careered off the road.
"The driver must have lost his concentration for a moment.
"There was a massive amount of damage to the car but he got out, brushed himself down and seemed right-as-rain.
"He's a lucky boy."
The incident is the latest inexplicable crash involving Premiership footballers on their way to training. Former Manchester United star Christiano Ronaldo wrote off his Ferrari on a seemingly innocuous stretch of road earlier this year.
Bendtner is set to miss the Champions League clash tonight, but manager Arsene Wenger said he should be back in time for Sunday's domestic match against Blackburn - whose French defender Pascal Chimbonda today received a six-month driving ban for two speeding offences.
