A mysterious motoring accident suffered by heartthrob George Clooney has been revealed as slightly less glamorous than the suspected motorbike crash.
The actor's representative scotched rumours he said had been circulating on the continent after George was treated at a private Swiss clinic, by pointing out that the Ocean's Eleven star had merely trapped his hand in a parked car's door.
Despite slamming the door hard enough to cause a break, the episode is not quite the Rebel Without a Cause image Gorgeous George has been cultivating this summer.
The actor has been chugging around the North Italian lakes on his motorbike with new girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis and celebrity mates including Cindy Crawford.
Rep Stan Rosenfeld said: "The doctor has given him 30-40 more years to live and no live animals were harmed during the wrapping of the hand."
However, the rumours were not without precedent. Clooney broke a rib two years ago after a motorbike crash in New York.
