An elderly driver's trip to the shops ended in mayhem, after a slip-up with the pedals saw her crashing into a florist.
And an 86-year-old pedestrian also struck by the car is recovering from her injuries in hospital.
The 83-year-old driver, who has not been named, is thought to have confused the accelerator and brake pedal when parking outside The Flower Shop, in Chandler's Ford.
As the woman lost control, her blue Mazda mounted the pavement and smashed into the front of the shop, causing thousands of pounds' worth of damage.
But while the driver and her passenger - also 83 - were treated for shock at the scene, the female pedestrian suffered a suspected fractured leg and pelvis.
"After seeing the extent of the damage, I was surprised that the people in the car were not more severely injured," said inspector Brian Gravenor of Hampshire police.
However, he added that the pedestrian had been taken to hospital "and could remain there for some time".
The Flower Shop worker Sharon Amos told The Mail that staff looked up to see a car "flying" towards them.
"The car just flew straight into the shop - it was really scary."
