A parking boss in London had his own parking fines waived and misused a business permit to park at home, it's been revealed.
Temporary contractor John Meyer had been brought in last summer to improve Camden's parking regime.
But he left Camden Council suddenly last December, after what a town hall spokeswoman said had been "errors of judgement on his part that we believe were not compatible with the head of service role or the public profile of the post".
Now, according to the Evening Standard, a report to the council's audit committee shows that Meyer had used his position to cancel parking tickets he'd received - and that he'd used a business parking permit for use at home.
Quoted in the Standard on Tuesday, a Camden Council spokesman confirmed: "In December 2008 a temporary member of staff was found to have misused the council's business parking dispensation to park at his private residence.
"His services were therefore immediately terminated."
