An entrepreneur is thanking his lucky stars he made it safely out of a car that went up in flames in Peterborough city centre.
Unfortunately, online car dealer Janade Hussain is rueing the fact that the car was his - and that it was an exotic Lamborghini Gallardo.
The Italian sports car, which was worth around £75,000, could hit close to 200mph - before it exploded in a ball of flames.
Hussain told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph that he leapt out of the car when he spotted smoke belching from the back, and saw to his horror that the rear bumper was starting to melt.
"I ran to get a fire extinguisher, but when I got back it was too dangerous to get near and all of a sudden it turned into a fireball.
"I was just shocked; I thought I was having a nightmare."
According to fire fighters, the car may have burned more intensely due to its carbon fibre and alloy construction.
And in addition to being left with the headache of sorting out the car insurance claim, Hussain is wondering why the mishap had to strike his prized supercar.
"I worked myself up to bigger and better cars and unfortunately this was one of the most expensive cars I've ever owned," he said.
2009 has been quite a year for automotive exotica biting the bullet, prompting car blog Jalopnik to list some of the most saddening supercar wrecks.
