A man rammed a Rolls Royce through the window of a Tesco supermarket after being refused alcohol by staff for being "out of his head".
The 50-year-old man is alleged to have left the store in Andover, Hampshire, after failing to purchase drink. He then returned to his luxury saloon, where a store manager reportedly tried to calm him down.
However, staff and shoppers then watched as his vehicle mounted the kerb and accelerated towards the building.
After failing to break through at the first attempt, the driver is said to have reversed and tried again - this time crashing through, obliterating two checkouts and even bringing down a section of the ceiling.
Although afternoon shoppers dived for cover, six women were treated for injuries and shock.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver was still sitting in the front seat when police arrived to arrest him on suspicion of drink-driving and attempted murder.
One Tesco employee told the Telegraph newspaper that she had heard a massive explosion and "thought a bomb had gone off".
"People were running for their lives, scrambling out of the way and scattering in all directions," she said.
