A male stripper is on trial accused of impersonating a police officer and pulling over motorists using a flashing light.
Grampian Police were on the lookout last year for the driver of an old Peugeot in the Peterhead area of Scotland, after two separate drivers complained that they had been wrongly pulled over using a powerful strobe light - the kind sometimes used in unmarked police cars.
Kennedy, who denies a range of charges relating to the two incidents, went on trial at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday.
He was stopped last June by officers as he drove between a hen party engagement and another booking at a pub.
Constable Gary Marr told the court that Kennedy's car contained an assorted mix of authentic police equipment, including a hat, batons, body armour and visibility jacket. However, mingled with this were some items which were definitely not standard issue - such as epaulettes numbered 'sergeant 0069'.
Kennedy claimed to have used the strobe light to warn other drivers, the court heard.
The trial continues next week.
