Searching on the internet for a car to buy may have become commonplace, but not every motor shows up in the usual places.
And a shot taken for Google Maps' Street View is helping publicise the sorry state of one languishing classic.
The car, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette 'split-window', has been rusting away since 1975, uncovered and apparently unloved on a driveway in Spokane, Washington State.
Although apparently now up for sale, interest in the Stingray's plight has been fuelled by the discovery of the Street View photo, where it can be seen partly-obscured by debris and some decidedly more ordinary cars.
Launched less than two years ago by Google, Street View lets users of Google Maps see panoramic photos taken at ground level in various cities across the world, including Paris, Rome and Madrid.
And while the Stingray first showed up on car blog Classic Nation, a comment pointing to the Street View address has helped drive interest further afield.
In a 'for sale' advert reproduced on Autoblog, the car's owner allows that the 360-horsepower sportster has been "veggin on the spot since 75".
The unnamed vendor suggests that the car "needs a lot of work & a real vettemiester [Corvette expert]".
"Do your homework, know what you're about, make an offer, no haggle," they advise.
And, after waiting for more than 33 years, they're still in no hurry, adding: "Plan to sell. I'll decide when ready."
