Jeremy Clarkson might have gone flat about the Tesla Roadster, but that's not a charge you could level at Boris Johnson.
When Top Gear drove the all-electric sports car, it showed a Lotus Elise - the iconic sports car that it's based on - a clean pair of heels, with literally electrifying acceleration.
But Clarkson's first car appeared to run out of juice, while a blown fuse in the second left it static.
Last week, though, London's mayor test drove the Tesla ahead of its public appearance at the IQ2 Green Festival on Climate Change.
And although Boris has already been converted to electric, he seemed reluctant to give the car too much of a plug.
"What I really want is a people carrier," he told Tesla's Don Cochrane.
Judging by current events, he may not have long to wait.
At the North American International Motor Show in Detroit, electric concept cars are generating much of the attention.
