Former Page-three girl Linda Lusardi rang 999 because she was late for a pantomime, it has emerged.
The former topless model, appearing as the Wicked Queen in a High Wycombe production of Snow White, was so worried about turning up late on Saturday 27 December that she rang the police to ask if she could use the hard shoulder of the M25.
But, the Daily Mail reports, officers denied her request, telling her to wait with other motorists who were also stuck in heavy traffic on the busy motorway.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police told the paper that being late for work is no reason to call 999 or use emergency measures.
"This was absolutely not appropriate use of the emergency number or of police time", they added.
On Saturday, Greater Manchester Police force revealed that it had received more than 5,000 emergency calls over the Christmas period, and reminded the public only to dial 999 in an emergency.
One hoax caller had rung the force to say that Santa and Rudolf were breaking into a house, while another had asked for chemist opening times.
