Those who don't enjoy checking their tyres had better look away now.
An Italian sports car, 30 years in the making, looks set to finally make it into production next year - and it rides on six wheels.
The Covini C6W - 'coupe, six wheels' - was first dreamt up by Ferruccio Covini in the 1970s, taking its inspiration from the Tyrell P34 Formula One car.
The idea to commercialise the vehicle suffered from years of false starts, but the C6W could finally be just around the corner, according to the Jalopnik blog.
It's claimed that the two-seater's design offers better grip and braking, better protection from head-on prangs and a lower risk of aquaplaning (losing grip in the wet).
And those put off by the idea of having to inflate extra tyres may be consoled by the claim that there's less risk of them deflating.
Motoring website Italiaspeed reports that around six cars will be produced per year from the end of 2009.
