An American car enthusiast has driven off with a slice of double-O-heaven, after one of James Bond's most iconic rides sold at auction.
The Lotus Esprit - which cost only around £8,000 when it launched in 1976 - was the star of Roger Moore's The Spy Who Loved Me.
In that movie it evaded a helicopter by turning into a submarine.
And while Bond's Aston Martin DB9 coupe, the little brother of Bond's current DBS car, will set you back around £114,000, the Lotus came in just under this figure, fetching £111,500 at the Bonhams sale.
Along with the classic Aston Martin DB5, which first made an appearance in Goldfinger, the Lotus had a few modifications for its star role. They include a surface-to-air missile launching button on the gearstick, a feature which remains on the auction car.
However, the famous AU1 number plate - fitted to Auric Goldfinger's Rolls Royce - did not sell, having failed to reach the estimated £80,000 to £100,000.
