Chinese New Year is celebrated on the 29th January, to welcome in 2006 – the year of the Dog.
Insurance company, elephant.co.uk, carried out a survey of its policy holders to find out if the year you are born makes a difference to the kind of driver you are.
According to elephant.co.uk, the safest drivers who make the fewest claims are those born in the year of the Horse (1942,1954, 1966, or 1978). According to the Chinese calendar, people born in the year of the Horse are hard working and very independent. Despite being intelligent and friendly, you can sometimes be a bit selfish. Other famous Horses include Robert Wagner, Rolf Harris, Helmut Kohl, Clint Eastwood, and Barbara Streisand.
On the other hand, drivers born in the year of the Rooster (1945, 1957, 1969, or 1981) make more claims than the other years. People born in the year of the Rooster are hard-working and definite about their decisions. Roosters are not afraid to speak their minds and can therefore sometimes come across as boastful. Other famous Roosters include Michael Aspel, Yoko Ono, Rod Stewart, Mia Farrow, and Eric Clapton.
Managing Director of elephant.co.uk, Ceri Assiratti, said that “Although this is just a bit of fun, we have demonstrated that there are real differences in the likelihood of claiming depending which year you were born in. We’d recommend all drivers – not just those born in the year of the Rooster - to consider using a protected No Claims Discount, which ensures that they will not lose out in the event of an accident or claim. Kung Hei Fat Choy!”
