How would you like to do your bit toward saving the planet? This
may sound like a tall order, but the car you drive can have a major
impact on the environment, and a new player has entered the market
in the shape of the Lexus RX 400h. To encourage people to think
about the environment, leading insurer elephant.co.uk is
lowering the recommended ABI insurance group on the RX 400h to make
sure it is cheaper to insure.
elephant.co.uk will insure the standard model and the SE
at insurance group 15 instead of group 16 and the SE-L at group
16 instead of group 17, which could mean a potential saving of over
10%.
elephant.co.uk's managing director, Tanzie Oliver, explained
why it decided to lower the premium, "We are a very environmentally
aware company, and currently support a number of conservation charities.
So, the idea of a more environmentally friendly way to drive is
very appealing to us.
"We already provide a discount on the Toyota Prius, and so
this demonstrates our commitment to responsible environmentally
conscious drivers, who are also likely to be responsible safety
conscious drivers, and are the type of driver that we like to insure."
According to Lexus, the RX 400h is revolutionary as it achieves
a unique position in the market by not only delivering the low exhaust
emissions and high fuel efficiency that are well-established characteristics
of hybrid power, but also by providing the high performance that
has until now typically been the preserve of large-capacity petrol
engine models.
So, what will this mean in terms of prices? elephant.co.uk
compared the cost of insuring the Lexus RX 400h SE through itself
and two competitors and came up with the following prices:
